Your future responsibilities
The Research Unit “Architectures & Topologies” of the SAL Power Electronics Division focuses on new topologies for various inverters, the utilization of newest switching devices and modules as well as the optimization of passive technologies in power converters.
For the upcoming projects, we are looking for a new colleague to join the team. The scope of the projects we do ranges from the component level and its integration into the power converter systems till filter design for electromagnetic compatible converters.Typical applications we do are traction inverters, onboard chargers and industrial converters for DC-Microgrids.
In this position you will implement new concepts for power converters especially for DC/DC converters for applications in automotive and industrial environments. You will perform simulations, create PCB layouts and finally perform measurements on the hardware in the lab.You will lead work packages for research projects that include the tasks described and at the same time act as the interface between our and other research units within SAL.
In addition, we expect you to support researchers and Ph D students in translating the latest concepts and ideas into final hardware and to assist them with testing and verification.
Your profile- MSc degree in power electronics
- Experience with dc/dc converters
- First experience in power converter hardware design
- Knowledge and experience
- with wide-bandgap power devices,
- EMI filter design and conducted emissions,
- magnetics design for inductors and transformers ideally also for planar approaches and
- modelling and control of power converter.
- Preferable experience with MATLAB/Simulink and PCB design software (e.g. Altium Designer)
- Hands-on person mentality – bringing ideas towards final hardware
- Self-contained and organized working style
- Relocation to Graz / Austria
- English language skills are essential to work in our multidisciplinary and multicultural team
